| When I was a little girl I always dreamed of having my own horses some day. Growing up, my father would always take me to the fairs and put me on the pony rides. One of my most happiest childhood memories was the day my dad took me to a rodeo at Madison Square Garden and I had the pleasure and great honor of meeting the famous "King and Queen of The West"....Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, and their horses Trigger and Buttermilk, who I used to watch on TV every Saturday morning. Finally years later, my dreams came true. My husband and I currently own 4 horses, 4 ponies and a few other farm animals. One of my concerns was our one gelding was diagnosed with a bad case of arthritis when he was a 5 year old and has had on and off again problems ever since. My daughter’s senior mare was diagnosed with stifle issues and high ringbone. Although all of the horses receive the proper veterinary care and are given supplements, we felt that more could be done. My daughter and I had a massage therapist come out to do a session with them and found it to be beneficial. My husband and I felt that this could also benefit our other horses and ponies too. I did some research and found a place called Equine Kneads that offered a course on how to become a Certified Equine Massage Therapist. The teacher was very thorough and wonderful to work with and we received “hands on” training with her horses. Now that I am a Certified Equine Massage Therapist, I can take what I have learned and help not only our horses, I want to offer my services to other horses. I know as well as anyone that our horses deserve to be comfortable and happy. In my opinion, massage therapy is a great way to help. |
